End of life Doula Services

Every person deserves to die with dignity, respect and love. In this fast-paced world of having everything at our fingertips and instant gratification, it’s not so cut and dried when one is facing the end of their life. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with you and your loved one to support them in dying as holistically as possible.
​
Terminal illnesses bring on many decisions, emotions, and physical needs that are often not prepared for, however still need to be addressed. An end-of-life doula can assist in many areas to help both the person dying and their loved ones to address both their needs. Services are non-medical and provide more of the day-to-day needs.
End of life services vary but often include:
Emotional Support- Providing an ear to listen and providing companionship. Working through grief and expectations for all involved. Dealing with grief.
Physical Comfort- Assisting with pain management and advocacy with physicians. Physical comfort, holding space and providing a much needed outside voice.
Assisting with setting up the patient’s space so they can maximize their comfort.

Advanced Care Planning- Assisting with completing end of life wishes, paperwork, legal documents, and funeral arrangements as well as working through earthly possessions.
​
End of Life Planning- Planning funeral services and handling invite and preparations. Assisting with writing goodbye letters, Legacy projects to protect the patient’s life, rituals or traditions, making videos, phone calls and death vigil.
​
Education and Referrals- Supporting and explaining the dying process and needs of the patient. Reviewing signs and symptoms and developing a plan so that the patient dies in the manner and way they are most comfortable. Referring to the family or individual when needed to other resources including care or respite providers.
​
Length of services – A Doula can work with families or the patient from the time of diagnosis through bereavement, based on the family’s needs. The goal of the Doula is to support the family and individuals with non-medical care and emotional support.
